When it comes to your style, size matters. A good outfit is often just a size up or down away. Knowing your body measurements is especially important if you’ve experienced weight change or haven’t shopped for clothes in a while. If you don’t know your off-the-rack sizes, use this guide to take your own measurements. Your stylist will thank you 😉.
Pro tip: Use a sewing tape measure (the soft, flexible kind) and measure yourself in inches. You’re ready to view the measurement when the tape feels snug around your body, with one finger between the tape and your body.
Neck
Use your measuring tape to measure around your neck. This measurement is typically used for dress shirts.
Chest
Measure around your body, using the widest part of your chest. This measurement is a critical one and is used for shirt and jacket sizing.
Waist
Measure around your body, using the smallest part of your waist (usually your belly button). This measurement is another important one, used for tops and pants.
Hip
Measure the widest part of your hip, including your butt. This measurement is used together with your Waist measurement for the most accurate pant sizing.
Sleeve
Measure the outer part of your arm, from the corner of your shoulder to your wrist. This measurement is used for suit jackets and tops.
Inseam
Measure the inside of your leg from the crotch to the floor. This measurement will help determine your pant length size.
